It suits a short, focused Zhangjiajie visit, provided you arrive by the stated time and can manage mountain walking and weather-dependent activities.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1Arrive in Zhangjiajie before 11:00 / Huanglong Cave
Make your own way to Zhangjiajie, arriving before 11:00. After pickup, travel to Huanglong Cave and spend about two hours there after lunch; main admission is included, but the cave boat ride and audio commentary cost an extra CNY 61 per person. Time permitting, you can add Baofeng Lake as an optional paid visit, with admission, shuttle and boat ride sold together. The Charming Xiangxi show may be arranged in the evening; confirm before booking whether the ticket is included in the price. Dinner is at your own expense; stay in Wulingyuan.

Day 2Tianmen Mountain, Tianmen Cave and glass walkway / Finish at the cableway station
After breakfast, travel to Zhangjiajie city for Tianmen Mountain. Follow the reserved route to Tianmen Cave, the Guigu cliff walkway and the glass walkway. The cableway route cannot be chosen, and bad weather may close some areas. Lunch is included. The day ends at the Tianmen Mountain cableway station; we recommend booking onward transport for about 17:00 or later, and you should confirm exact timings when booking. Check in advance whether the Tianmen Mountain escalators, shoe covers and other related charges apply.
