Getting to Fenghuang
Since the Zhangjiajie–Jishou–Huaihua high-speed line opened at the end of 2021, the train from Zhangjiajie West to Fenghuang Ancient Town station usually takes under an hour, depending on the service. From the station, take a shuttle or taxi into town. From Changsha, travel by high-speed rail via Zhangjiajie West or Huaihua South; some trains run direct — check 12306.
Cars can’t enter the old town. With lots of luggage, stay near an entrance, or ask us to have your driver drop you at the nearest point.

Questions
Is there an entrance fee for the old town?
Entering the town itself is currently free; some sights (such as the “eight sights” ticket) are paid separately. Follow the information published by the scenic area.
Can I combine Fenghuang with Zhangjiajie?
Yes — it’s Hunan’s classic pairing. Three days in Zhangjiajie plus one or two in Fenghuang, linked by high-speed rail.
Is it suitable for older travellers?
Yes. The town is compact and you can take it slowly. Mind the stone paths and steps; staying near an entrance makes it easier.
Is Furong Town worth a stop?
Furong Town lies between Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang — an old town built beside a waterfall, well worth half a day.
